To manage app purchases via your online account:

  1. Sign in to your online account 

  2. Click on the user whose Internet Filtering Rules you want to manage

  3. Click on the Profile name in their dashboard

  4. Check the age profile is reflected in the first drop down box

  5. Select Device features from the second drop down box

  6. Toggle Permit App Installs to block (grey) or allow (blue) app installs

To manage app purchases via the Zone Manager app:

  1. Open the Zone Manager app

  2. Click on the user whose internet filtering rules  you want to change

  3. Click Internet filter & rules

  4. Select Device features from the drop down box

  5. Toggle Permit App Installs to block (grey) or allow (blue) app installs

How long before the change takes effect?

Rule changes take around 30 seconds (but up to 2 minutes) to take effect on the user’s device.

Can I remotely approve apps to be installed?

No.  Our system is only able to block app installs entirely.

Can I turn off app installs for all iOS(Apple) devices?

No.  iOS (Apple) devices that have been upgraded to iOS 13 or above can not have App Installs blocked.  Earlier iOS versions are able to have App Installs blocked.

If I’ve blocked my child from installing apps how do I get apps on their devices?

If you want to install an app on your child’s device and they’ve been blocked from accessing the app store you can borrow the device to your profile to gain access to the app store and the ability to download apps.

Is this the same as Google Family Link?

No.  Google Family Link is different to our app install controls.

Can I turn off app installs on Laptops?

No.  In order to stop app installs on laptops you’ll need to set yourself up as an administrator and your child as a user.
