To check internet usage for a user:

  1. Log into your online account or open the Zone Manager app

  2. Click on Insights 

  3. Click on Usage

  4. Select the traffic type you want to see from the first drop down list (Allowed traffic, Blocked trafficInternet activity)

  5. Select the user whose usage you’d like to review from the second drop down

  6. Select the time period you’d like to review from the last drop down (Last 24 hours3 days7 days2 weeks or 4 weeks)

  7. Click on the Category or Date you’d like to see more detail on

  8. Click on the Subcategory or  Time you’d like to see more detail for


Do you have traffic further back than 4 weeks?

No, the data is anonymised in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Can I see what was looked at; messages, posts etc?

No, we only track where they went, not what they looked at or the content of messages or posts.

Can I see a log of what my child has been doing recently?

Yes, you can go into the Internet Activity section of the user and it will show you what they’ve been doing online recently.

How long does it take for usage to show up in the usage pages?

Usage usually shows up in the usage pages 2 or 3 minutes after the request.

Can I see how much time my child has spent on the internet?

No.  We only show when a user has attempted to access a site, not how much time they’ve spent on it.

What are all the numbers in the usage?

Many apps and websites use IP addresses (e.g. 17.253.66.125:123) rather than addresses (e.g  familyzone.com) to speed up access to content.

Why do some things have multiple categories?

Some IP addresses have multiple categories because they are for large content providers like Google Cloud where multiple companies store their content.  Sometimes we can’t tell which company is accessing the IP address so we categorise it with all known categories.

How do I use this information to allow or block access for my child?

You can take the categories and block or allow traffic for those in the Age Profile Controls section of your online account.
