I’ve completed a Quick Time Change but it doesn’t appear to have changed on the device

Quick Time Changes can take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes to become effective and change the internet filtering rules for a user.   Sometimes the device will store old rules which make it appear that the change hasn’t taken effect and needs time to adjust to the new rules.

Steps to resolve:

  • Check the device has access to the internet by opening a browser window and going to the Family Zone website (https://familyzone.com

  • Open a browser on the device and browse to home.tools and check: 

    • That the correct user is assigned to the device

    • That the user is in the access type that you’ve selected (Play, School, Study or Sleep)

  • Open an incognito or private browsing window and attempt to access the site you need and see if it loads

  • Check the blocked page to see why the site has been blocked by clicking on More info (it may not be allowed in the access type you’ve changed to)

  • Check the Internet filter & rules in your online account or the Family Zone app installed on a parent’s device to see if the site or app is blocked in the access type you’ve changed to.

The Quick Time Change I performed on my child’s device hasn’t reverted

Quick Time Changes should revert to the users base routine after the time you’ve specified.  It may take between 30 seconds and 2 minutes to revert and you may need to refresh the app (pull down on the main screen).

Steps to resolve:

  • Check the user’s dashboard in your online account or the the Family Zone app installed on a parent’s device to make sure that the Quick Time Change has finished (you shouldn’t be able to cancel it)

  • Check the device has access to the internet by opening a browser window and going to the Family Zone website (https://familyzone.com

  • Open a browser on the device and browse to home.tools and check: 

    • That the correct user is assigned to the device

    • That the user is in the access type that you’ve selected (Play, School, Study or Sleep)
