Can the Home Zone Box protect any device I connect?
Yes, the Home Zone Box can protect any device that is connected to it, including;
Apple Time Capsule
Amazon Fire Stick
I have connected my device to the Home Zone Box WiFi network, what do I do now?
The important step is to register the device to a family member after it has connected to the Home Zone Box. If you do not register a device after connecting it to the Home Zone Box, it will still be filtered by a harsh policy called the Guest Profile and will always be in Play time.
There are two different ways to register a device;
Register a device via the Online Account
Once you connect a device to the Home Zone Box, all parents will receive an email and a To do, advising that a new device has connected.
Go to the To do section
Select the New device has connected To do
Select Family Device
Enter in the Device Name and Device Type
Assign the device to a family member
Register on the device itself via http://home.tools
Registering a device via http://home.tools requires access to an internet browser. If the device you are connecting does not have a web browser, please use the first method.
Connect the device to the Home Zone Box
Open the web browser on the device
Browse to http://home.tools
You should be directed to a Family Zone page asking you to Assign Device
Enter in your Parental PIN
Enter in the Device Name
Select the Device Type and the family member
Which family member should I assign the device too?
We recommend creating a new family member, that is called ‘Equipment’ and then assign your device to the ‘Equipment’ family member. The ‘Equipment’ family member can then be managed separately from the rest of your family.
I have a lot of unregistered devices, can I just modify the default filtering settings instead?
Yes, if you haven’t registered all the devices connected to the Home Zone Box you can control the default Guest profile.
Go to the Cyber Safety section
Select the Guest age profile from the drop down menu
Block/allow any category to grant/deny access to all devices on the guest profile
As devices on the guest profile are not assigned to family members, they do not have a routine and calendar, thus these devices are always in Play time.
