What is a hazardous app?

Hazardous apps can prevent our content filtering technology and school filter systems from operating. 

My Mobile Zone device has a hazardous app installed. What should I do?

If you receive a hazardous app alert, it means the device is currently unprotected, or filtering is being disabled when the user chooses. You should uninstall the hazardous app urgently.

I am regularly getting this alert. What can I do?

You may wish to set a “consequence”. You can choose to disable a user’s devices if a hazardous app is detected again. You can re-enable the device when you choose, ideally after the hazardous app is removed. To set-up a consequence, sign in to your account and go to Settings > Age profile controls > select Age profile > Alerts and Consequences. 

Why can hazardous apps be installed in the first place?

We are not able to block specific apps from within the App Store or Google Play, as only Apple and Google have this capability. You are able to set restrictions to block access to the entire App Store or Google Play.

What is stopping users from just installing the hazardous app again?

Each time a hazardous app is identified by our systems, you will be sent an alert notification. 

You can also prevent users from installing apps on Mobile Zone devices by following these steps:

Sign In to your account.

Go to Settings > Age profile controls

Select the age profile of your Mobile Zone users > Device features

Switch ‘Allow App Install’ to No

Can I change policy settings for my users?
