Today, technology has become an essential part of our kid’s education and experience. Many schools even provide personal technology or require students “bring your own device” (BYOD). Thus schools are on the front line, when dealing with the challenges of online access and the cyber world.

Accordingly our services and that of our cyber experts have been developed to work in harmony with schools and community groups.
Most schools have filtering technology in place and many employ advanced technologies such as key-loggers and Mobile Device Management. Family Zone’s technology has been designed to work in harmony with school technologies. This means your kids are safe at school, at home and when out and about.

Manage through Safe WiFi feature
Family Zone's Safe WiFi feature disables Family Zone filtering (VPN) when the Family Zone App detects the device has connected to a registered Safe WiFi network. Accordingly, Family Zone's school's features require that your kid's school's WiFi network is registered in Family Zone AND your family is linked to that school. You can request a school be registered and link to school through the User Account menu in the Family Zone Web Account.
Requires the Family Zone App
The Family Zone App manages the internet access of your kid's devices outside of the home. Family Zone's school's features are enabled through the Family Zone App which can only be installed on compatible iOS (Apple) and Android mobile devices.

Registering a school
Family Zone's school's features require that your kid's school's WiFi network is registered in Family Zone AND your family is linked to that school. You can request a school be registered and linked to school through the User Account menu in the Family Zone Web Account.
Working with iOS Mobile Device Management technology
The Family Zone App on iOS uses a technology called Mobile Device Management (MDM). Apple only permit one MDM profile at a time on a device and accordingly, if your kids' school uses MDM technology then the full version of the Mobile Zone app cannot be installed, the Filter Only version of the Family Zone app will need to be installed. To check if MDM is installed on your kid's device go to Settings > General > Device Management. If there is an entry there, then the Filter Only Mobile Zone app will need to be installed.
My school was not in the list of schools, what do I do?
Our list of schools is growing and we may not have your child's school listed. You can send a request for Family Zone to register the school by filling out the 'Register a School' details and submitting them. You will receive an email to notify you that we have received your registration request.
I submitted a school registration request, what now?
Family Zone will be in touch with the school to discuss the schools filtering system and once we have all details required, we will email you to let you know the school has been added.
I didn't select my child's school when I created my family members, can I add this now?
Yes, you can add a school to each child through the Family Zone Web Account dashboard and click on the family member > account > add school.
