Children may attempt to bypass Mobile Zone filtering by tampering with the app. Parents will be alerted if this occurs, and the child’s device will be set to sleep-time, which will block all internet access. 


Reinstate Mobile Zone for Apple iOS

Mobile Zone can be tampered with in three ways. 

 

1. The child has uninstalled the app

Re-install as follows:

  • Download Mobile Zone from the App Store and install. For more information on installing the app, click here.

  • Open Mobile Zone

  • Select Sign In

  • Enter Username and Password

  • Select the Device Owner then Next

  • Select OK to begin installing the MDM Profile

  • Select Allow

  • Select Install and Trust for all pop-up menus

  • Once the installation is complete, you’ll be taken to a Mobile Zone page. Wait 30 seconds

  • Your device should display the notification Mobile Zone successfully installed. If it doesn’t, click Open App

  • Mobile Zone is now activated

 

2.  The child has turned off the Mobile Zone VPN

Re-enable VPN Connect On Demand

  • Open the device’s Settings menu

  • Go to General > VPN

  • Select the blue circle to the right of Mobile Zone VPN

  • Turn on Connect On Demand

3. The child has removed the Mobile Device Management (MDM) Profile

  • Open the Mobile Zone app 

  • Tap on Install Profile at the bottom of the screen

  • Follow all pop-up installation instructions


Reinstate Mobile Zone for Android

Bypassing the Mobile Zone app on an Android device is more difficult. Listed below are the actions children may attempt and instructions on how to fix them.


1. The child has uninstalled the app

Re-install as follows:

  • Download the Mobile Zone app from Google Play and install. For more information on installing the app, click here

  • Open the app

  • Select Sign In

  • Enter Username and Password

  • Select the Device Owner then select Next

  • Activate the Device Administrator

  • Grant VPN Permissions

  • Allow Usage Access Permissions

  • Allow Battery Optimisation Permissions

  • Install Certificate Authority (recommended)


2. The child has removed Device Administrator Rights

Re-enable Device Administrator Rights as follows:

  • Open Mobile Zone 

  • Select Please complete device configuration

  • Select Device Administrator

  • Select Activate Device Administrator


Good to know

We can’t stop your child from trying to remove Mobile Zone 

Family Zone is unable to stop your child from attempting to remove the app. That’s because both Apple and Android treat device owners as adults with the authority to remove any installed app. 


Affected devices will automatically switch to “Sleep-time” 

Family Zone will place a device in sleep-time when we detect a violation. This means it won’t be able to connect to the internet when they connect to any other Family Zone Service
